Description: This course gives a brief overview of world history from the Stone Age to 1776. Course topics include the rise of civilization, the Greek and Roman civilizations, early Asian empires, African and American cultures, the spread of Islam, the development of Europe through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and the European colonial system. Students will learn how to write historical essays that compare and analyze civilizations.
Special Instructions: Lesson assignments need to be created in Microsoft Word or another word processor that saves files as .doc (Word 97–2003 document) or .rtf (Rich Text format). The same textbook is also used with the second half unit.
