Prerequisites: Successful completion of Physics, First Half Unit, and at least two years of high school math, including Algebra I. Some background in trigonometry is required.
Description: This course continues the study of the basic laws of physics, expanding on the information presented in the first half unit. Concepts studied include sound waves, reflection and refraction, direct current circuits, the chemical and magnetic effects of heat, and nuclear reactions. The course’s laboratory component is an integral portion of most lessons. Students may choose to purchase a laboratory kit that includes only items that may be less easy to obtain on their own. Gifted: This course is academically challenging. Any student who has an interest in the subject and has met the prerequisites (if any) may enroll.
Special Instructions: Students will be required to upload documents in Word 97–2003 (.doc) or Rich Text (.rtf) format. These documents can be created in Microsoft Word or another office suite that saves in the .doc or .rtf format, such as the open-source OpenOffice or Google Docs online.
