Commencement Speaker

This year's graduation speaker is Dr. Jim Spain, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and the Director of the MU Student Success Center.

Dr. Jim Spain received his B.S. in Animal Sciences from North Carolina State University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Dairy Sciences from Virginia Tech University. Dr. Spain joined the University of Missouri as State Extension Dairy Specialist in 1990. He has been recognized for his teaching and advising efforts, including receiving the William T. Kemper Fellows award and the Missouri Governor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in Higher Education. Dr. Spain served six years as Assistant Dean of Academic Programs for the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. In August, 2007, Dr. Spain began serving as the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and the Director of the MU Student Success Center. In this role, Dr. Spain is responsible for the University of Missouri’s programs that serve undergraduate student academics as well as faculty development.
