Description: This course provides students with the tools to begin a lifelong career-planning process. They will explore their interests, skills, values, and strengths to help them identify possible career goals and explore various career opportunities. Topics include job searching, completing applications, writing a résumé, preparing for an interview, goal setting, and decision-making. NOTE: Career Planning, Charting Your Future was a previous version of this course.
Special Instructions: In addition to the required surveys which are available from CDIS for a fee, there is one more survey students are required to take. This survey will be needed for the Lesson 1 progress evaluation and can be purchased for $5 with a credit card at the Self-Direct Search Web site. More details are included in the lesson.

Only 2 lessons can be submitted in a seven-day period for this course.

For some lessons students will be required to upload documents in Word 97–2003 (.doc) or Rich Text (.rtf) format. These documents can be created in Microsoft Word or another office suite that saves in the .doc or .rtf format, such as the open-source OpenOffice or Google Docs online.
