Description: Students will use literature to explore important societal topics and make personal connections through frequent journal writing. Lessons will focus on analyzing and applying various writing techniques. Students will examine the elements of fiction, figurative language, and symbolism in various genres.
Special Instructions: Lesson assignments need to be created in Microsoft Word or another word processor that saves files as .doc (Word 97–2003 document) or .rtf (Rich Text format). The Glencoe Literature textbook is also used for the spring semester.
